The Burpee Seed: Wildflower Collection is a hypothetical concept series of mugs that contain wildflower seeds to be planted around your home. The seeds are local to the wildflowers of certain regions to support specific pollinators. The packaging includes mugs with vinyl flowers, an outside label, a seed packet, and an instruction booklet. The color palette is specific to each region of wildflowers and black is used in both type and illustrations to reduce final costs in the printing and packaging phase of the project. The design is both simple and elegant to reduce unnecessary information on packaging and have a clear voice even if sitting on the shelf at a store.  

This product challenges traditional patterns of consumerism by promoting a cycle of growth and renewal, reminding the buyer that every purchase can positively impact our environment. The mugs aim to avoid ‘green fishing’ that is popular with big corporations and encourage proper sustainability and waste reduction through packaging.  It’s a creative way to inspire individuals to take action in their backyards, inspiring a deeper connection with nature and the importance of biodiversity, pollination, and our Earth!
